Record of the Day

Fucked Up - Hidden World.
I have just re-discovered this little jewel among hardcore punk records.
The story of this album goes as this: a little Canadian diy hc punk band Fucked Up got signed up by Jade Tree records. The boys and girl found themselves having a much bigger budget for the studio recording session than they had for their previous releases and spent it well. Added layers and length to their old 2 minutes straightforward classics. The result is an amazingly interesting and catchy punk album.
You can discuss the quality of Fucked Up's later records, but this one is an eternal classic already.
Listening to this brings back so many great memories from their live concerts. I've seen them several times and it always was an absolute blast. So much fun, energy and weirdness.
Fucked Up rules!

Meh

Suppose I accidentally got my shit together
Would I get a medal?
Or a pat on the back and a little feather
I could stick in my cap or pin it to my shirt
Go out in the yard and poke it in the dirt
Or leave it in the woods where it couldn't be found
If it fell over, would it make a sound?
And if it did, would it be the sound that you like?
Or should I do it over until I get it right?

Recörd öf the Day

There's been a lot of Motörhead in my ears lately. Seems like whenever I don't know what to play I just put one of their records on and happily headbang the day away. It's a universal day to day music for me. Nothing too mind-blowing or brain-bending, but a solid, true, heavy rock'n'roll.

And I won't even start on Lemmy again. "Prince died" ... "Who?" "David Bowie kicked the bucket." ... "Whatever." But when Lemmy left this world, it really brought me down. There's been a couple of idealized father-substituting role-models (or imaginary friends if you wish) in my life that sort of guided me through and Lemmy was definitely one of them. The One who started it all, the survivor, the ultimate rocker.

We Are Motörhead is a very dear album to me, as I it was one of the first CDs (yes, CDs, go Google it) I ever owned in my life. It is an exceptionally fast one by Motörhead standards too.
Give it a go:

And for some reason I really like Overnight Sensation too. Good mix of melody and power.

Well, Lemmy, rock in peace and thanks for all the inspiration and hours, if not days, of life-changing, hard charging music!

Live loife

It was here before, but (as strange as it may seem) since it's my favourite life motivation song, I'm putting it up here again. Please enjoy and also do follow the wise mans (haha) advice.

Live life!
Live life like you're gonna die
...because you're gonna.
...
Maybe not today or even next year
But before you know it
You'll be sayin'
Is this all there was?
What was all the fuss?
Why did I bother?

Autumn

So we can't work it out, and I don't want to work it out
Fall is coming soon and I'm fine with being alone
Don't want to let you in, already seen where you've been
What's the point of giving in, refuse to say goodbye again

It's just another day
There's nothing left to say
I'll watch the falling leaves alone and shed no tears
I look forward to the fall this year

Shorter days and longer nights, you're no longer in my sight
The trees are bare and you're not there for me (to ruin it with another fight)
And as I walk the quiet streets, dead rotting leaves beneath my feet
I'll think about our separate lives, I tried (But now at least I know I tried)

It's just another day
There's nothing left to say
I'll watch the falling leaves alone, and shed no tears
I look forward to the fall this year

I'll watch the fires burn, and breathe the cool night air
And as the fires burn, you'll know that I don't care
I'll watch the fires burn, and breathe the cool night air
And as the fires burn, you'll know that I don't care
You'll know that I don't care
I know that you don't care
